Collect for the Week:

Lord of all life and power, who through the mighty lay resurrection of your Son overcome the old order of sin and death to make all things new in him: grant that we, being dead to sin and alive to you in Jesus Christ, may reign with him in glory; to whom with you and the Holy Spirit be praise and honour, glory and might, now and in all eternity.

Our celebrant and preacher for next Sunday 15th April will be Rev. Brian Hartley who also will be doing this Wednesday's service.

Childrens' Church After speaking with the PCC it has been agreed to have a trial period where the children will be escorted over from the Mission Hall at 10.45am to rejoin the service. This will give the teachers enough time to do the lesson then hopefully get the children back into church on mass to join their parents and receive their blessing. Thank you Jackie Flanagan

Easter Flowers - A big thank you to Lillia and Doreen for the beautiful flower displays, once again thank you.

The Parish lounge is open and available for use during the service if very young children need a break from the service. There is a speaker in there so that not only can parents still see the service, but can still be involved if they need to make use of this facility.

There is a teaching leaflet about the Eucharist (Communion Service) at the back of the Church. This has been produced in response to some discussion in the PCC and is there to help us in our worship together. Please take one from the leaflet stand on your way out of church. Thank you.

Gift Aid Envelopes. Anyone interested in joining the envelope scheme, please ask Annette - Gift Aid Secretary.

The sale of The Cross in my Pocket made by Arthur Prince has so far raised £316.00. Arthur has now made covers For Our Daily Bread Booklet at £2 each and Bus Pass Covers £1 each. All items are on display at the back of the Church. Please help to support Arthur's efforts in raising funds for the Church. Thank you Glenys

Lent Boxes - These are at the back of Church, please take one, each box is numbered. There is a list of box nubers with the boxes, please tick the box number you take do not put your name as it is just to see how many boxes are taken. This year our lent Collection is once again for Dr. Kershaw's Hospice and also for the Bishop of Manchester's Lent Appeal which is towards the rebuilding of St. Denys School and Diocesan Retreat Centre in Islamabad Pakistan which had been destroyed by fire. An article on this appears in February Crux. Please be generous as these are very worthy causes - the Wardens and PCC.

Easter Candle Once again it is my pleasure to donate the new Easter candel, also have a lovely Easter everyone. God Bless Rosemary

Fr. David Quance In memory of the late Fr. David Quance there will be a collection taken to buy something we can remember him by. The decision on what we get will depend on the amount of donations given. Please see Rona Cornforth if you wish to give in memory of a very dear friend to St. John's. Rona will be collecting until Easter Sunday.

Memorial Service There will be a memorial service for Father David Quance on 2nd May 7.00pm at Holy Family Lord Lane. The celebrant and preacher at this will be the Bishop of Beverley and this will be for the Forward in Faith. At a later date (hopefully soon) there will be a memorial service held for Father David at St. John's officiated by the Bishop of Middleton. You are invited to one or both the services. God bless Mary

Sidepersons Rota It will soon be time for the new list of dates for the sides-persons rota to be made out. If you would like to become a sidesperson we are always looking for extra help. The duties are mainly giving books out on Sunday morning and tidying them away afterwards. If there is a Baptism the Sunday you are on duty you will be expected to stay and give out the baptism cards. If you are interested have a word with one of the wardens for more details and then please give me your name. It would be ideal if you teamed up with a partner but not essential.
