Collect for the Week:

O God, the proector of all who trust in you, without whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy: increase and multiply upon us your mercy; that with you as our ruler and guide we may so pass through things temporal that we may lose not our hold on things eternal; grant this, heavenly Father, for our Lord Jesus Christ's sake, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Prayer after Communion Eternal God, comfort of the affliced and healer of the broken, you have fed us at the table of light and hope: teach us the ways of gentleness and peace, that all the world may acknowledge the kingdom of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

DIPPING YOUR TOE IN THE WATER

Spending time prayerfully reading the bible is a source of growth in your Christian life and understanding. It can be daunting, all those long names, ancient rituals and unfamiliar ideas. Using Bible reading notes is a great help, they give structure to your reading, no need to be lost in Leviticus; they seek to explain the historical context of scripture and its relavance to contemporary life and biblenotes usually give you a final thought or reflection to accompany you through the day.

The Bible Reading Fellowship was founded in an Anglican parish in Brixton in 1922. Today it remains a respected organisation trusted for its broad scholarship and appeal to a wide range of Christian traditions. A display of BRF materials will be arriving at St. John's soon - there is sure to be something to interest and encourage you.

There is a teaching leaflet about the Eucharist (Communion Service) at the back of the Church. This has been produced in response to some discussion in the PCC and is there to help us in our worship together. Please take one from the leaflet stand on your way out of church. Thank you.

The Parish lounge is open and available for use during the service if very young children need a break from the service. There is a speaker in there so that not only can parents still see the service, but can still be involved if they need to make use of this facility.

Parish Surgery - Please note that Baptism Bookings are now on a Sunday 11.30am - 12noon in the lounge at the back of church. Thank you the Wardens.

Gift Aid Envelopes. Anyone interested in joining the envelope scheme, please ask Annette - Gift Aid Secretary.

They are looking for donations of food ie: tins of meat, pkts of soup, tea, coffee etc, any items can be placed in box at back of church. Thank you Church Wardens
